Jones County Republicans will have to wait until Aug. 10 to find out who their candidate will be for Board of Education Chairman in the Nov. 2 Election.
Ginger Bailey received 944 votes or 40 percent in the July 22 primary, which was not enough to avoid a runoff. Wally Hunter garnered 32 percent of the vote and will face Bailey in the August runoff. Ken Hamilton was a close third with 28 percent of the vote.
The winner in the Republican runoff for Board of Education Chairman will face Democrat Josh Lurie in November.
Board of Education District Three incumbent Larry Haskins defeated Brady Skinner 58 percent to 42 percent. Haskins received 490 votes and will face Democrat J.D. Collins in the general election in November.
