The Kiwanis Club recently donated $6,350 to Boy Scout Troop 485 and the Altman Scout Center in Jones County. The donation represents the net proceeds of the Francis Golson Memorial Golf Tournament which is run by the Kiwanis Club each year and sponsored by many local businesses and donors. Shown in the photo in the center is Kiwanis President, Owen Pruitt. On the left and right are Max Wood and Joe Briley, Jr. who represent Scout Troop 485 and are also members of Kiwanis.
Read moreThe Lynn and Brick Nelson Fund gave a $1,000 grant in honor of Frank and Bonnie Duke for their service to the Jones County Library. This is a new set of books we ordered with part of that grant. This is the Moncure “Letter Sound Box Series” for children learning their letter sounds. This set of books, which circulates constantly, was so worn out that the books were becoming tattered. It is wonderful to see the new books on the shelves.
