No games or practices for the rest of March due to COVID-19 scare
Ball fields and courts across America, and in Jones County, have gone silent.
No one who follows Jones County High School sports was surprised when Madison Bennett signed Friday to play college softball at Georgia Highlands College.
The Greyhounds improved to 2-1 in region play with a 16-5 victory at Woodland-Stockbridge last Wednesday, rallying from a slow start with a big finish.
The Lady Hounds swept a pair of golf matches last week, winning 140-159 against Pike County at the Cedars on Tuesday and 90-121 at Twin Cities against Washington County on Thursday to improve to 3-0 on the season.
NOTE: All Jones County school and recreation sports have been suspended at least through March 28. No decision has been made on making up games or matches that will not be played as scheduled.
Jones County schools are suspending their spring sports seasons for the next two weeks in response to concerns over the coronovirus pandemic.
The Greyhounds were hoping it was the shot in the arm they were so desperately needing.
