Last fall, Jones County High School brought a state softball title home to Gray. Another group of youngsters recently brought a title home to Jones County and is hungry for more.

The 8U All Star Darlings won the state title recently in Crawford County. They’ll now represent the Peach State as Team Georgia starting July 23 in the Dixie Youth World Series in Prince George, Va., competing against teams from the Southeast Region.

The team is led by the coaching staff of Matt Still, Amanda Still, Justin Lord, Rocky Moore and Amanda Pritchett.

Team members are: Brynlee Pritchett, Charlie Newberry, Lorelai Heath, Maddy Boyd, Brilee Jones, Aubrey Davis, Ansley Matthews and Sutton Lord.

With the world series coming up, the team’s focus is two-fold: practicing to prepare while also fundraising to cover the cost and expenses of a once in a lifetime experience.

The Jones County community has multiple avenues of which to provide support. Donations may be made via Venmo to @jc-darling or by check to Jones County Darling Softball and mailed to 4038 Upper River Road, Gray, Ga 31032.

The team will also hold a car wash July 10 at Magnolia State Bank in Gray from 12:30 to 4:00.

More info on upcoming fundraising opportunities and the team is also on the team’s Facebook page, 2021 JC Allstar Darlings.
