WARNER ROBINS: Amos Vernon Mack, USN Ret., 81, passed away Friday, October 5, at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson, SC.

Born in Baxley, he grew up in Cobbtown. He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years and served on two aircraft carriers and six naval assignments. He was a navy recruiter and counselor, First Class. Following his retirement from the Navy, he was an employee of the city of Macon.

He was the loving father of three children, Mitchell (Irma) Mack of Anderson, SC, Lora (Mack) Gonzalez of Fort Valley, and Martin (Lisa) Mack of Gray; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, October 9, at M.J. “Dolly” Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson, SC conducted by Rev. Jerry Hayes with Military Honors conducted by the U.S. Navy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8517.
