JONES COUNTY: Bobby Emmitt Sowell, 82, died Monday, August 27, at his residence. The family met friends from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, at Gray Memorial Chapel in Gray. Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 30, at Stillmore City Cemetery in Emanuel County.

Mr. Sowell was born December 23, 1935, in Stillmore and had lived most of his life in the middle Georgia area. He was the son of the late James William Sowell and Elva Lee Collins Sowell. Mr. Sowell honorably served his country with the United States Army and was a retired loan manager for Georgia Motor Finance Company. He loved watching the Braves play ball, Georgia Tech, Duke basketball, cheering for Tom Brady, and fishing for crappie. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy Sowell and Gene Sowell.

Mr. Sowell is survived by loving wife of 57 years, Jenny Sutton Sowell; son, Kerry (Julie) Sowell; daughter, Karen Sowell (Ray) Bryant; grandchildren, Matthew (Susan) Bryant, Adrien Sowell (Scott) Page, Joshua (Jill) Bryant, Justin (Kelly) Sowell, Chandler (Chelsea) Bryant, Sydnie Kemp, and Sutton Kemp; greatgrandchildren, Johnny Page, Madison Bryant, and Noah Sowell; sister, Sandra Dye; sisters-inlaw: Kay Sowell and Peggy Sowell;step-grandchildren, Kevin Leslie, Chris Leslie, and Kati (Chris) Black; step-great-grandchildren, Anna Leslie, Jacob Leslie, Mahkenzi Black, Emily Black, and Brayden Black; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to send a special thank you to the staff of Kindred Hospice in Warner Robins and Mr. Sowell’s caregivers, Vanessa Adams,ShaneikaCarey,and Debbie Harrington, for their compassionate care during his final days.
