GRAY: Calvin Wayne Miller Sr., 69, of Cyler Road, died Sunday, Sept. 13. The family greeted friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at Gray Memorial Chapel. Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 16, graveside at New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Jones County. Rev. Eddie Windham and Deacon Scott Hudson officiated.
Mr. Miller was born June 10, 1951, in Douglas and had lived in Gray for the past nine years. He was the son of the late Henry Milton Miller and Lois Rhoden Miller. Mr. Miller was a devout christian and was a member of New Salem Baptist Church where he served as an elder and taught Sunday school. He was a boilermaker by trade for the Boilermaker’s Union, Local No. 26 of Savannah. He was preceded in death by a brother, Framan “Frog” Miller.
Mr. Miller is survived by his sons, Calvin Wayne (Emily) Miller Jr. and Kevin Mathew Miller, Kartley (JoAnna) Morris; daughter, Cassy Marie Miller; grandchildren, Avery Miller, Mary Evelyn Miller, Kullen Morris, Madison Morris, and Willow Morris; brother, Henry Milton (Penny) Miller Jr. (Penny) and a nephew, Chris Miller.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Miller asked that contributions be made to New Salem Baptist Church, 183 Salem Church-Miller Road, Gray, Georgia 31032 or to Heartland Hospice of Augusta, 153 Davis Road, Augusta, Georgia 30907.
