MACON: Debbie D. Peacock Kitchens Schmidt, age 58 , passed away on Dec.22, surrounded by her loving family after a yearlong battle with ovarian cancer.

A celebration of her life was held on Wednesday, Dec. 26, at 2:00 p.m. at Macon Memorial Park Funeral Home, 3969 Mercer University Drive, Macon, GA. Burial followed at Cedar Ridge Cemetery, Gray, GA. The Rev. Kim Washburn officiated. The family will greeted from 1:00 p.m. to service time at the funeral home. The family greeted friends following the graveside service at the home of Randy and Angie Peacock.

Debbie was born Feb. 26, 1960 in Milledgeville. She was raised in Jones County. Debbie worked in physician billing and management throughout her life. The last position she held before her illness was with Navicent Health as a patient account representative team lead, in the Physician Billing and Support Services department. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, daughter, and dear friend to many.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruthie Walker Peacock. She is survived by her loving husband and care giver, Arthur (“Bubber”) Schmidt; son, Josh (Steven) Kitchens of Atlanta; father, Braxton Peacock, of Jones County; brother, Randy (Angie) Peacock, of Gray; nieces and nephews, Kyle (Shelby) Peacock, Kaley (Cameron) Thrasher, and Cheyenne Hubbard; great-niece, Evelyn Gray Thrasher; and beloved fur babies, Sergio, Sofia, Sabastian, Mag, and Noel.

The family would like to extend their grateful appreciation to Pine Pointe Hospice, Dr. M. Symmes Johnson, Darquita, Tammy, Karen, and Dr. David Holmes for the exceptional care and love they provided to Debbie over the last few months of her life, and also to Dr. Michael Dillon for his initial care.
