Dr. Grantham will be missed

Posted in:

Dear Editor,

With regrets, but Thanksgiving, we have been saddened by the loss of our kind and helpful Dr. Greg. He lived his life in service to our Lord and Savior, Jesus, and people. When Ms. Vicky called me early Sunday and gave me the news of our loss and Heaven’s gain, we began sharing memories and reflecting on his music ability. She said she would lay down beside him in those last days and sing our hymns we all sang in the Bradley choir. He would hum them with her; Amazing Grace, When We all Got to Heaven, and Jesus, There’s Just Something About that Name. As he played the piano without any song notes, Jackie and the Doc’s voice blended so well and we recall, they were asked to do this often.

Dr. Grantham designed and built the fellowship hall and a wing to the church, now the youth facility. Days he labored, often by himself. On Saturdays, others would help and Ms. Vicky was always there unless she was working (she worked part-time then). The lovely work inside the church was very special birch wood intricately lathed with a modesty railing around the choir loft, organ, and piano.

To Ms. Vicky, Dan, Carl, Hester, and Sam, we watched you grow up and loved you. Then came some dear grands and greatgrands. As you remember your Poppy, please tell your little ones, as they need to know, that a great man has lived his life as a faithful servant and awaits a beautiful reunion with you. God Bless you all.

With respect and love,

Evelyn Collins
