The Greyhounds had five football players sign national letters of intent on signing day Wednesday in a ceremony in the Jones County High School Auditorium.
Defensive end Ja'darien Boykin signed with the Louisville Cardinals of the Atlantic Coast Conference, becoming the first Greyhound to sign with a NCAA Division I power five conference in Justin Rogers’ five years as JCHS coach.
Outside linebacker Jake Lanford signed with the Charleston Southern Buccaneers, members of the NCAA Division I FCS Big South Conference.
Cornerback Jordan Davis signed with the University of West Georgia Wolves in Carrollton. They are a member of the NCAA Division II Gulf South Conference.
Defensive back Cameron Rockmore signed with the LaGrange College Panthers of the NCAA Division III USA South Athletic Conference.
And defensive lineman D.J. Stewart signed with the University of the Cumberlands in Williamsburg, Ky. The Patriots are members of the NAIA Mid-South Conference.
They join Jones County offensive lineman Trey Bonner, who signed during the early period back in December with the Georgia State University Panthers in Atlanta. Georgia State is a member of the NCAA Division I Sun Belt Conference.
Rogers said the Greyhounds have now had 38 players sign to play college football in his five seasons in Gray.
