JONES COUNTY: Gene Whiddon, 73, of Morton Road, died Monday, April 8, at his residence. The family greeted friends from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 12, at Gray Memorial Chapel. Memorial services followed at 11:00 a.m., in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Randy Darnell and Mrs. Doris Fowler officiated.
Mr. Whiddon was born October 23, 1945, in Campbellton, FL. and had lived in the middle Georgia area for the past 50 years. He was the son of the late John Howard Whiddon and Mildred Ball Whiddon. Mr. Whiddon was a welder by trade, which carried him all over the southeast helping to construct large scale projects like Monsanto in Greenwood, SC and the Bibb Company in Juliette. He was also the owner and president of Metro Seal Company before his retirement. Mr. Whiddon was a member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association and also served as president of the Shamrock Road Riders Association in Dublin. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Gray and was preceded in death by his beloved brothers, Ennis Whiddon and Bobby Whiddon.
Mr. Whiddon is survived by his wife, Pat Whiddon; daughters and son-in-law: Angel Whiddon and Brandi and Doug Conyer; grandchildren, Bailee Conyer, Morgan Conyer, and Andrew Conyer; brothers, John Whiddon and Joe Whiddon; and by several cousins.
