Uneeq Beauty Supply Store has hair of many various colors available for those who want something different.

Uneeq Beauty Supply Store is open for men, women and children to purchase their beauty supplies locally and not break the bank.

The beauty supply store is located at 4274 Gray Highway, Suite F in Gray. To reach staff, call 678-598-0410. The store is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Katrina West, the owner of Uneeq, said she grew up in New York, but currently lives in Hampton, GA. She said her daughter used to live in Jones County, so she decided to open her beauty store here in Jones County because her daughter said she had to drive all the way to Macon to get beauty supplies.

“My mother decided to move down here, and she said she would not rest until she got all her children to Georgia,” West said. “I’ve been in Georgia since 1996. I like Jones County because there is really no crime, and the police officers stop by here every night.”

She said she wanted to bring in a beauty supply store with everything that stores have in Macon. She said she hopes to get customers from Gray and Milledgeville coming into her store and hopefully save people from a long drive.

“Uneeq is growth for Jones County. Once I get more customers in the door, I can hire a few people and give them jobs. It’ll be good for me and Jones County.”

The beauty store owner said her prices are competitive, and she has just about everything in the store as far as beauty supplies go. She said if customers want something she doesn’t have, she will do what she can to get it for them.

“I tried to open a beauty supply store last year, but I had to get my funding right,” the store owner said. “I had to get things little by little, but I’m here now. This has been what I’ve wanted to do for a while.”

West said COVID-19 hasn’t stopped her from opening up her store, but it has made it difficult to get some items into the store. She said since some items are coming from overseas, it’s taking longer to get them, and there are some items she just can’t seem to get.

“We have hair, relaxers, dyes for women, hair dye for men, clippers, flat irons, wigs, bobbles, and more. I have stuff for everybody. I wanted my store to have items for men, women and children,” West said.

She said her favorite thing about getting to run her own store is being able to work for herself. She said she’s been working since she was 16 years old, and wanted her own business.

“I’ve been doing hair since I was 14 years old. I love doing hair, and I love everything about beauty,” West said. “My daughters do hair, too. I got tired of hair and decided to open my own store instead. I want to be here for a long time.”
