Maybe it was a Northside hangover, or a full harvest moon on Friday the 13th.
Or simply a determined Union Grove team.
Whatever the reason, the Greyhounds were pushed to the limit Friday night in McDonough but survived for a 28-21 victory to remain unbeaten.
Now 4-0, Jones County hosts Woodland next Friday for homecoming. Union Grove drops to 2-1.
It was the first Region 4-5A game for both.
A week after dominating Northside 56-33, the Greyhounds came out flat Friday night and had to battle back from an early 7-0 deficit just to make it to halftime tied 7-7.
The teams swapped long drives to start the second half before Jones County could pull ahead to forge a 28-14 lead.
But the Wolverines kept battling and cut the final margin to 28-21.
