The honorary Jaycees met in Newnan, August 16-19, for their summer event and to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the GA Honors Corps. Chad Brown, President of JCI GA, was in attendance at the anniversary luncheon and praised the Jaycee alumni for their service to their local communities.
Members of the honorary organizations were all originally Jaycees, but aged out at 40 and have been recognized for their dedication from chapters throughout GA. The weekend was busy with meetings, socials, a silent auction, and a prayer breakfast. At the GA Honor Corps’ Meeting, Kay Buchanan, an associate of the Gray Jaycees, was named Honor’s Corp Colonel of the Trimester presented by commander, Kellie Jett. Denise Bauer and Donald Calhoun, associates of the Gray Jaycees and corp members were also present.
On Saturday afternoon, the Camp Dream Foundation, hosted the Corp’s Cocktail Party. Kay and Denise were a part of the hosting committee for that event as well as the executive vicepresident, Gary Marshall, and secretary, Brenda Wright who serve on the Foundation Board.
The Gray Jaycees have played an active role in Jones County for almost 30 years.
Being a Jaycee is a great way to socialize, broaden your horizons, and uncap your qualities while serving your community and having fun. Join the Jaycees for their next meeting on Monday, September 10. Their informal business meetings begin at 7 p.m. at Gray 8 Skate on Gray Hwy.
