Jones County split with Eagles’ Landing last Tuesday at home in Region 4-5A soccer action.

The Lady Hounds won 5-0, with Madisen Mitchum having a role in all three goals scored in the first half.

The first came when Natalie Pounds kicked in a deflection from a shot by Mitchum at 24:21. The second came on a goal by Mitchum at 13:53 on a breakaway up the middle off a long kick by Mackenzie Kilpatrick. And the third came on a free kick by Mitchum from the middle with 4:18 left in the half.

In the second half, Madison Bennett scored on a penalty kick at 22:56, and Maggie Glover finished the scoring with a goal off a throw-in from Macy Norman with 3:08 to play.

The Jones County girls improved to 6-3-1 overall and 3-0 in the region.

The Jones County boys fell to Eagle’s Landing 5-1, with Holt Phillips scoring the only goal for the Greyhounds. They are 3-6-1 overall and 1-2 in the region.

Middle schools

The Jones County middle school girls lost 8-0 at Henderson last Wednesday to drop to 3-5-1 on the season.

Ana-Marie Land had five saves and Rylie Faulk had four saves in goal for the Lady Hounds. Brianna Logue and Isabelle Pecorilli had three saves each on defense.
