JCHS splits with FPD in opener

Posted in:

Brad Hammock shot a 33 last Monday as Jones County opened its golf season, but the Greyhounds lost to FPD 154-163 at Lake Jonesco.

The Lady Hounds won, however, downing the Lady Vikings 199-244.

Kaitlyn Brower and Kloey Goins each shot 48 to lead the Jones County girls, Logon Partin shot 50 and Keggan Goins shot 53.

Hammock’s 33, which coach Jeff Williams said is the lowest nine-hole score for a Greyhound in his decade with the team, included an eagle from 179 yards on No. 4.

Nick Johnson shot 42, and Austin Mills and Wesley McKenzie shot 44 each.

Matches with Strong Rock and Washington County last week were rained out.

The Jones County teams have a makeup match with Washington County scheduled for Thursday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
