Jimmy Lamar Gatliff, 70, of James passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 26 at Chaplinwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, Milledgeville, with family at his side.
Jimmy was born on Jan. 23, 1950 in James. He was a 1968 graduate of Jones County High School. He worked at Riverside Ford, Coca-Cola, and Bloodworth Construction Company. He was a member of Elam Baptist Church in Gray.
Jimmy enjoyed fishing, watching baseball, bingo, and time with his family and friends. His family will miss his kind and quiet spirit.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Henry L. and Nancy O’Neal Gatliff and sister, Dianne Gatliff. He is survived by his sisters, Sandra (David) Spivey of Macon and Mary Jo (Tommy) Jarrell of Gray; brothers, Wayne (Vivian) Gatliff of Eatonton and Mike (Barbara Ann) Gatliff of Gray; four nieces and three nephews; three great-nieces and two great-nephews; one great-great-niece; and aunts, uncles; and cousins.
The family wishes to express their great appreciation to Chaplinwood for their love and caring of Jimmy. He thought each of them as his family, also.
Graveside services were Saturday, Aug. 29 at 11:00 a.m. at James Cemetery, James, Georgia. The Reverend Gary Thomas of Elam Baptist Church officiated. Memorial and love offerings may be made to Elam Baptist Church, 203 Elam Church Road, Gray, Georgia 31032.
