When the Greyhounds play Grayson on Sept. 4, they’ll do so within an adjusted seating in light of COVID-19.
Approximately 2,500 tickets, 50 percent of Greyhound Field’s capacity, will be sold on GoFan.co for $9 a piece. Any tickets remaining after 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4 will be available for purchase for $10 at the home gate starting at 6 p.m. Of the available tickets, 2,100 are set aside for Greyhound fans and 400 for Grayson.
JCHS fans are encouraged to follow Jones County Football on Facebook and JCGreyhounds on Twitter for updates on ticket availability.
School officials will also ask fans to sit on the visitor’s side after 1,350 fans enter the home stands. Fans that have reserved seats will get into the game with their season tickets.
“Our parents and the community wanted to go back to school. What the school system, Mr. Gibson and the board of education have done to put in place all the accommodations that they have is unbelievable,” Jones County athletic director Barry Veal said. “The first week of school was tremendous, and now we’re getting ready for our first game, the other sports have started and now we’re getting ready to play football.”
Three entrances will be open for fans to enter - the front home gate, front visitor’s gate and ticket gate behind the home stands. Hand sanitizer and masks will be available at entry gates, and JCHS urges everyone to wear a mask, especially when unable to be six feet apart from others.
“We need the community to buy in and do things, wear a mask if they can. If they can't social distance at the games to wear a mask, we need them to do the little things so we can keep playing,” Veal said.
