JONES COUNTY: Judith “Judi” Vate Howell, 66, of Castle Court, died Sunday, October 7, at a local hospital. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m., Friday, at Gray Memorial Chapel in Gray. Memorial services will follow in the funeral home chapel with Mr. Davey Covey officiating.

Ms. Howell was born October 9, 1951, in Vienna, Austria and had lived in the middle Georgia area for more than 35 years. She was the daughter of the late Lieutenant Colonel Robert Goggans Sr., retired and Cosma Hatch Goggans. Ms. Howell was a graduate of Georgia College and State University and was a retired counselor for the Georgia Department of Corrections.

Ms. Howell is survived by her son, Jayme Howell, of Macon; sisters and brother-in-law, Sheila and John Forsyth of Burke, Virginia ,and Janet “Leni” Covey of Gray; brother, Robert Goggans Jr, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; nephews: Robert Lane III, Sunnyvale, California, Davey Covey of Brunswick and Chris Covey of Gray; niece, Shelly Harris, Arvada, Colorado.

The family may be contacted at the residence of Janet “Leni” Covey at 155 Beaver Creek Drive in Jones County.
