The ending was bittersweet on Friday for the Lady Greyhounds.

While they once again found themselves among the state's top teams in Columbus, the Lady Hounds saw their quest to repeat as state champions come to an end late Friday night, losing their loser's bracket game 11-0 to Woodland Bartow. The loss came after the contest, originally slated for 7 p.m., started around 9 p.m. due to earlier games causing time delays.

The Greyhounds have now finished within the state's top six for three years in a row, continuing to set a high standard.

Jones County found itself in the loser's bracket after a tough 3-1 loss earlier Friday, as Northside Columbus rallied for three runs in the late innings to take the win and put JCHS in an uphill battle.
