Morris Bank Holiday Classic set for Dec. 21-23

Posted in:

Since 1991, one of the traditions of the Christmas season in Jones County has been that of tournament basketball converging on Gray.

Even in the time of COVID-19, that tradition will continue with the Morris Bank Holiday Classic on Dec. 21-23, with eight teams scheduled to take part on both the boys and girls side of the brackets.

The Greyhounds and Lady Greyhounds will play in the final game of the first day of the tournament on Dec. 21, the Lady Greyhounds playing South Gwinnett at 7 p.m. and the Greyhounds playing South Effingham at 8:30 p.m.

The tournament concludes with the championship round of games on Dec. 23. That’ll all be preceded by a mixture of teams taking on one another. Other boys games set for Dec. 21 are Northside against Morgan County at 11:30 a.m., Veterans against Butler at 2:30 p.m. and McDonough vs. Washington County at 5:30 p.m. Other girls games on Dec. 21 are Northside vs. Spalding at 10 a.m., Southwest against Douglass at 1 p.m. and Valdosta against Washington County at 4 p.m.

The respective winners and losers from the first day will play one another on the second day, helping to set the final day’s schedule.
