Those who can’t travel with the Greyhounds when they play out of town will be able to keep up with the away football games this season thanks to a new online radio broadcast that three JCHS alumni are initiating.
To access the broadcasts, go online to http://mixlr.com/jchsgreyhoundsportsradio/.
Adam Greene (class of 2006) and Kyle Sears (2005) will be the announcers, and Doug Jackson (2003) will be the spotter.
The broadcasts will begin about 30 minutes before kickoff with a short pregame show. The first will be Thursday night when Jones County plays Howard High in Macon.
“Adam came up with this idea a few weeks ago and pitched it to coach Barry Veal, who was all for it,” Sears said. “We’re using a live broadcasting platform called Mixlr.
“We were able to find a few local sponsors who are helping with the associated costs, especially the equipment, which will belong to the high school. This is a new venture for me and Adam as well as the high school, so we’re really just trying to get our feet wet this first season. If all goes well, there may be a possibility of expanding and broadcasting some key games in other sports.”
Sponsors lined up for the broadcasts so far include Conn Realty, Wesley Audio and Brandon Spivey with State Farm.
