Last Thursday against Mary Persons, Jones County’s tennis program celebrated its three seniors. Fittingly, all three of them, Syndey Bowman, Jackson Taylor and Drake Daughtry came away with wins against the Bulldogs.

Overall, the Greyhounds won 4-0 with the Lady Greyhounds falling 3-2.

Both teams close out the regular season on Thursday at home against GMC Prep.

Of the boys matches, the closest came at No.1 singles in Sam Caldwell’s 8-4 win. Otherwise, it was heavily dominated by JCHS with singles win from Daughtry 8-1 and Michael Harris, 8-0.

Taylor and Andrew Pounds also won big in doubles play, taking an 8-1 win.

Bowman and Ashlyn Rowland won 8-6 in No. 2 doubles for the Lady Greyhounds with Haley Favors winning 8-2 at No.1 singles. JCHS dropped a pair of close matches in singles as Rylee Veal fell 8-6 and Jalisa Williams by a score of 9-8.

Ciara Stephens and Natalie Wommack came up short in No.1 doubles by a score of 8-4.
