Animal Services facility complete, awaiting inspection from state

Local animal lovers filled the room for February’s informational meeting by Jones County Animal Services Director John Jackson.

The Feb. 12 meeting was the second held for the purpose of keeping the community aware of what is taking place in the world of animal control. The first meeting was held last month, and Jackson said it is his intention to continue the monthly sessions.

Animal lovers in attendance included Jones County Commission Chairman Chris Weidner, Commissioner Sam Kitchens and Gray Mayor Ed Barbee.

He announced that the new building is complete but animals would not be moved into the facility until the final inspection by the Department of Agriculture.
