BREAKING: Another life claimed by dangerous bypass intersection

Another life was claimed by the now infamous intersection of the North Gray Bypass and U.S. 129.

According to first responders, a Ford Escape crossed the intersection heading south on U.S. 129 from Eatonton without stopping at the stop sign. It was struck by a Chevy van traveling south on the bypass toward Macon.

A passenger in the Escape died. There was another passenger along with the driver, who sustained injuries that appeared to not be life-threatening.

The driver of the Chevy van also appeared to be in stable condition.

Jones County Assistant EMA Director Bill Wright said this made the fourth fatal accident he has worked in two weeks.

"This has got to stop," he said.

Two drivers died just last Thursday at the same intersection.
