Bruce Prescott Ransom

JONES COUNTY:  Bruce Prescott Ransom, 62, passed away Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at his residence.  The family greeted friends from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 12, at Bridges Funeral Home in Gray.  The service followed at 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Mr. Ransom was born April 25, 1953, in Glendale, Calif., and was the son of the late Carter S. Ransom Jr. and Anne Hodgkins Ransom.  He honorably served his country with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS CV-60 Saratoga.  Mr. Ransom was a retired electrician for Brown and Williamson Tobacco Corporation and was preceded in death by a brother, Laird Ransom, and a sister, Janice Sluder.

Mr. Ransom is survived by his wife, Polly Ransom; children, Heidi Pogue (Jim) of Johnson City, Tenn., Patrick Ransom (Crystal) of Lexington, Ky., Jeremiah Ransom (Jessie) of Macon, Joanna Ruggles (Bentley) of Kennesaw, Tiffany Ransom of Gray, Jimmie Woodard (Shauna) of Gray and Steven Woodard (Genie) of Gray; sisters, Sally (John) Cook of McCormick, S.C., Barbara Hays of Powder Springs, Natalie Hess (Jimmy) of Woodstock; brothers, Carter Ransom III (Mariya) of La Canada, Calif., and James Ransom (Sonya) of Dallas; 12 grandchildren:  Dylan, Daniel, Emily, Luke, Ian, Camilla, Mabel, Abigail, Aaron, Dorothy, Zachary and Kinsley; several nieces and nephews; and a large extended family.

The family may be contacted at the residence at 131 Hampton Hill Road in Jones County.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made in Mr. Ransom’s memory to your charity of choice.
