Building plan for JCCCA revealed

Plans for an expansion of the Jones County High School campus and creation of a college and career academy were reviewed at a joint steering committee meeting.

Career, Technical, and Agricultural Education Coordinator, Laura Rackley, welcomed attendees to the May 23 meeting and introduced Earl Colvin, director of maintenance and facilities, for the construction update.

Colvin spoke about the tentative plan for renovations and new construction at Jones County High School, which he emphasized were being changed as late as Monday. He said the initial goal of the project was to make sure the ninth grade students were back on the JCHS campus.

He said that meant new construction as well as renovation of existing buildings. The new construction will be a CTAE building and a music/ROTC building. The new buildings will sit in front of the gymnasium.

He said the renovations would include four new science labs and would take place on the math hall.
