Greyhounds recognized at annual football awards banquet

Senior quarterback Bradley Hunnicutt received the Golden Helmet award last week, recognizing him as Jones County’s most valuable player for the 2016 season when the Jones County Touchdown Club held its annual football awards banquet.

Senior defensive back Jimmy Haynes received the Spirit of the Greyhound award.

The Greyhounds went 7-5 on the season, finished third in the Region 4-5A standings and made it to the second round of the state playoffs

Top scholar athlete awards for each class went to freshman Britton Jones, sophomore Seth Daniels, junior Lane Aultman and senior Brooks Veal.

Receiving the Bubba Williams coaches’ awards were Hunnicutt for offense and senior linebacker Demontae Trawick for defense.

Junior offensive lineman Quay Betha received the Big Team Lil Me award for offense, and junior linebacker Antonio Evans got it for defense.
