HOMECOMING 2016: Plans for this year’s activities announced

Jones County High School is preparing for 2016-17 homecoming events as students finalize their selected class representatives for homecoming court.  Seniors are represented by Summer Bailey, Miranda Davidson, Jaylin Hall, Makayla Moxley, Shea Sawyer and Shaniqua Williams.  The remaining homecoming court includes junior representative Asia Exum, sophomore representative Taylor Love, and freshman representative Lu Woolfolk.

JCHS seniors will vote for one of the six senior representatives as homecoming queen Friday morning, Sept. 30.  The new queen will be crowned during halftime of the Jones County High School vs. Hampton High School football game that night.

“This year’s homecoming theme is Purple and Gold Pest Control: Exterminating Hornets is our Business,” JCHS principal Mary Frances Stewart said.  “Teachers will work with their classes to decorate classroom doors, and the senior class will decorate the hallway outside the counselors’ office.”

Spirit days this year include:

Monday – Pajama Day

Tuesday – Twin Day

Wednesday – Senior Citizen Day

Thursday – Superhero/Character Day

Friday – Greyhound Day with seniors wearing purple, juniors in gold, sophomores in white and freshmen in gray

Following great Greyhound tradition, there will be a homecoming parade Sept. 29 at 4:30 p.m.  The lineup begins at 4 p.m. in the JCHS student parking lot.  The parade will make its way north on Railroad Street, through the four-way stop, turning left onto Gordon Street. The parade will continue through to Stewart Avenue and back down Railroad Street to the high school.

If your organization would like to participate in the parade, please complete the Parade Entry Form, available at right or through the high school, along with the entry fee by Tuesday, Sept. 27.

Spirit Week will culminate with the football game on Friday night at 7:30 p.m., when the Greyhounds will take on the Hampton Hornets at home.

Don’t miss out. The entire community is invited to participate in the parade festivities as well as joining us for the game to support our Hounds.
