Hounds pound Griffin 35-6 in scrimmage

The Greyhounds were almost too strong for their own good last Friday night in Griffin.

Jones County scored all five of its touchdowns in the first quarter to whip the Griffin Bears 35-6  in a scrimmage game to end spring practice.

But the Greyhounds hurt themselves with the early big lead, because the Bears insisted on using a running clock for the final three quarters, and shortened two of them to just eight minutes, to avoid being further embarrassed on the scoreboard.

That in turn limited the time and plays Jones County coach Justin Rogers could use to get more players in the game to get them some work and reward them for working hard in the offseason and in spring practice.

“We came out playing great, but maybe we would have been better off playing ourselves. That way we wouldn’t have had the game shortened and could have given everyone an opportunity to play some,” Rogers said.
