Lady Hounds playing well, Hounds improving as the season progresses

The Lady Hounds are young this season, with only three seniors on the roster, but they are playing well nearly half way through the schedule.

“I like the way we’re shaping up,” coach Jessica Sowell said. “The girls are working hard and playing with a lot of confidence. Hopefully this is the year we finally make it to state.”

The Lady Hounds were 4-1-1 heading into a non-region match at Tattnall Square on Monday. More importantly, they were 3-0 in Region 4-5A. The top four teams from the region will advance to the state playoffs.

The season gets tougher starting next week, however, as Jones County begins a streak of five straight region matches, the first two at home and the final three on the road.

Last week, the Lady Hounds downed region foe Woodland-Stockbridge 3-1 on the road and tied Mt. de Sales 3-3 at home.
