Man pleads guilty to eight theft counts
After having his bond revoked last week, a Macon man was back in Jones County Superior Court to plead guilty to his charges.
Travis Shane Lathon entered a guilty plea Feb. 2 to eight counts of felony theft by taking and received a total sentence of 15 years with two years to serve in confinement.
Lathon was indicted with co-defendants Aug. 1, 2015 for crimes that were committed Aug. 13, 2014. He was charged with 10 counts of a 12-count indictment that included a charge of burglary and felony theft by taking.
Chief Assistant District Attorney Dawn Baskin told the court that the crime involved Kristi Barefoot Daniel, who entered a guilty plea Nov. 12, 2015. She was sentenced to 10 years for charges of theft by receiving stolen property. The sentence was to be served on probation, and she was ordered to pay restitution of $8,750.
Baskin said it was her parent’s home that was burglarized in 2014.
