Martin pleads guilty; County commissioner’s wife to spend 3 years of 15-year sentence in prison
Arleatha Battle Martin entered a guilty plea to the crime of racketeering in Bibb County Superior Court and received a sentence of 15 years.
The Jan. 25 negotiated plea included three years to serve in prison and restitution in the amount of $80,000. Martin is the wife of Jones County Commissioner Daylon Martin.
The defendant and her brother, Christopher Lorenzo Battle, were indicted April 19, 2016, just less than a year after their April 24, 2015, arrest on charges of identity theft fraud and insurance fraud.
The indictment included 25 counts of insurance fraud, three counts of identity fraud, and 25 corresponding counts of theft by taking.
