Meet the top graduates of the JCHS Class of 2017

Jones County High School’s top graduates for 2017, Summer Bailey and Kaitlyn Holder, say they are ready to spread their wings and fly.

Bailey, daughter of Cindy and John Bailey, is valedictorian for the class of 2017, and Holder, daughter of Kim and Ben Holder, is salutatorian.

“I’m ready to get away and try some new adventures,” Bailey said.

She will attend the University of Georgia and major in pre veterinarian subjects with the idea of eventually working with and rehabilitating aquatic animals.

“I’ve been interested in marine biology since the fourth grade. Hopefully I can live and work somewhere on the coast when I finish with school,” she said.

Holder will stay closer to home, at least to begin with. She plans to live at home and attend Macon State College in Macon next year and eventually move on to Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville.

“I’ll miss my friends here,” Holder said, “but I’m ready to move on in school.”

Meet all JCHS graduates in this week's special section, available in print and in our e-Edition.
