Morris Bank sponsors recreation complex

Morris Bank stepped up once again, this time to support the Highway 18 Recreation Complex.

The announcement was made at the April 3 meeting of the Jones County Board of Commissioners during the report of county department heads.

Director of Parks and Recreation Matt Goins told commissioners that Morris Bank had agreed to sponsor the park in a 10-year agreement for $49,000. He explained that the bank would buy signs for the park and pay $7,000 a year for the first seven years.

At the end of the 10 years, the bank will have the first chance for renewal. Goins said the park would be known as the Morris Bank Recreation Complex.

Thad Childs, Chairman of the Morris Bank Board of Directors, said it was a privilege to be able to sponsor the park.

“We appreciate being asked,” he said.
