New fields at recreaction complex will not open until safety concerns are fixed
As work nears completion for Jones County’s Central Recreation Complex expansion, players and coaches are understandably anxious to get on the new fields.
The Jones County Board of Commissioners held a work session Feb. 21 to discuss items that need to be completed before the new fields can be opened for play. The work session was scheduled following a discussion at the Feb. 7 board meeting, during which baseball coaches were informed the fields would not be ready for play this season.
County Administrator Jason Rizner said Safety Compliance Officer Charles Cook contacted Natalie Sellers with Risk Management Services of the ACCG about his safety concerns.
In Cook’s email to Sellers, he said the complex was not completed and he felt it had safety hazards that would be a risk to children.
