Russell Windell Tomlinson

GRAY:  Russell Windell Tomlinson, 90, of East Clinton Street, died Sunday, April 17, 2016, at a local nursing home.  The family is greeting friends Wednesday, April 20, 30 minutes prior to a 2:00 p.m. funeral service, in the chapel of Bridges Funeral Home in Gray.  The Rev. Gary Thomas is officiating.

Mr. Tomlinson was born July 31, 1925, in Laurens County, and had lived in Gray for the past 40 years.  He was the youngest son of the late Woody Dozier Tomlinson and Laura Hardin Tomlinson.  Mr. Tomlinson honorably served his country with the U.S. Navy during World War II and was retired from the accounting department of Robins Air Force Base with 34 years of service.  He was a former deacon of Elam Baptist Church, as well as a member of  Wolihin Masonic Lodge #390 and Sincerity Masonic Lodge #430.

Mr. Tomlinson is survived by his wife of 72 years, Frances S. Tomlinson; daughters and son-in-law, Ginger and Don Starkey and Linda Askew; son, Larry Tomlinson; three grandchildren; and by three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 886 Mulberry St., Macon, GA 31201.
