Undefeated Hounds clinch playoff berth

The fifth-ranked Greyhounds improved to 8-0, the best start in school history, and clinched a spot in the state playoffs with a 37-7 victory over Ola in McDonough on Friday night.

That sets up a meeting with third-ranked and also undefeated Stockbridge next Friday night in Gray for the region championship.

Jones County, which finishes the regular season against Dutchtown on Nov. 3 at home, must win only one of its final two games to clinch a home playoff game.

Senior Teldrick Ross passed for two touchdowns and ran for two more to lead the Greyhounds against Ola. Christian Veal returned a blocked field goal for the Hounds' other touchdown, and Josh Skinner kicked a 42-yard field goal.

Drake Bolus caught the first TD pass from Ross for a 34-yard score, and Jackson Mix caught the second for 46 yards.

Ross' touchdown runs were for 29 and 8 yards.
