Charles Warren Selby Sr.

Charles Warren Selby, Sr. passed away August 16. Funeral services were held on Sunday, August 19, at 2:00 p.m., at Gray United Methodist Church with Dr. Wayne E. Moseley, the Reverend Jason Dillard, and Dr. Laudis H. Lanford officiating. Visitation was held on Saturday, August 18, from 4:00 p.m. -6:00 p.m. at Hart’s, Jones County Chapel, 307 Pecan Lane, Gray, GA 31032. Interment followed the service in Cedar Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Gray United Methodist Church Building Fund, 117 Jefferson Street, Gray, GA 31032 or the Methodist Children’s Home, 304 Pierce Avenue, Macon, GA 31204.

Mr. Selby was the son of the late Charlie and Ruth Selby. He was a graduate of Syringa High School in Middlesex County, Virginia. He served in the U.S. Army of Occupation in Japan for three years. Mr. Selby was a member of Gray United Methodist Church, where he was a lifetime trustee. He was a member of Donovan Masonic Lodge in Deltaville, Virginia. Mr. Selby was the founder and current chairman of the Board of Warren Associates, Inc. During those years, he served on numerous boards in the building industry. He was a founding director of Security National Bank and was active in the Georgia Cattleman’s Association. Mr. Selby enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, collecting antique tractors, and traveling in their motorhome.

Mr. Selby is survived by his wife of 68 years, Byrd Selby of Gray; two daughters,Evelyn KaySelby of Columbus, and Peggy (Doug) Avera of Warner Robins; son, Warren (Tana) Selby Jr. of Macon; six grandchildren, Melanie Gayle (Craig) Germano, Vanessa Kate (Joshua) Harris, Jennifer Smith, Kristen Childs, Warren (Devin) Selby III, and Mason Selby; seven greatgrandchildren; and sisterin-law, Mary Ruth Selby of Deltaville, Virginia.
