Gore gets first MLB hit

Posted in:

Jones County native Terrance Gore got the first hit of his major league career with the Chicago Cubs last Saturday, singling up the middle against Washington Nationals star Max Scherzer in the ninth inning of the first game of a double header.

In the second game, he stole second and third in the seventh inning and scored on a double by Kris Bryant.

The speedy Gore, used mostly as a pinch-runner in the majors, had played briefly with the Kansas City Royals the last four seasons but had only 14 plate appearances, going hitless.

He was traded to Chicago last month and called up from AAA on Sept. 1.
