Jones County Sheriff’s Deputy Sergeant Marty Brownlee is the local veteran of the week. He served in the U.S. Army from 1996 - 2000 and 2006 - 2015 before retiring. Sergeant Brownlee served in Afghanistan, for which he was award a Purple Heart after being injured by a suicide bomber. He is an Iraq war veteran and a Bosnia Herzegovina veteran.
