Ambi Rae Boutique and Allure Beauty Bar have been in business in Gray for a year now, working alongside each other with their separate businesses, but maintaining a close family-like relationship.
Both businesses are located at 109 Atlanta Road in downtown Gray. Ambi Rae is open Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., Thursday and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Allure is open Monday and Tuesday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Amber Asbell, the owner of Ambi Rae Boutique, said her parents moved to Jones County when she was 16 years old, and Gray has become her town now as she has gotten to know the area. She said she worked in Gray, and eventually moved back with her husband.
“I love that Jones County is a small community and centered around the community,” she said. “We try to be active in the community and support what we can. I like how you’re always going to see someone you know, plus it’s safe.”
She said Ambi Rae was an online business before it was in Gray. Her daughter was starting school last year, so she wanted to get the business out of her house. She said it was an adjustment, because someone has to be at the store every day. But she said it’s been a great adjustment.
“Ambi Rae has been open for a year now, and I feel like we’ve grown in the community. People have gotten to know us. We have Allure still here, and there are three rooms total for that. We have a waiting room. We also have a back venue outside, so we can hold events. We try to do as much as we can for the community,” Asbell said.
The business owner said they have men’s items, children’s accessories, gifts, women’s clothing in small to 3XL, and more. She said people should shop at Ambi Rae, because she tries to give every person a one-on-one shopping experience. She said their shop is unique.
Asbell said Ambi Rae is important to the community, because they have become a part of Jones County. She said they are a part of the downtown area, and they want to improve the downtown area. She said they want to be somewhere local people can shop.
“Ambi Rae is about casual comfort. We try to carry something for everyone. For young people and up, plus we try to stay trendy,” the owner said. “We know people want to be comfortable, so we try to keep clothing like that.”

Anndrea Lampkin, Allure Beauty Bar owner, has her business inside Ambi Rae. She said she’s originally from Columbus but moved to Jones County four or five years ago. She said she really enjoys the community.
“I love the small community feel, because that’s not something I experienced where I was from,” she said. “I like how safe it is here, and the family feel to the community. It’s a nice place to live and have a family.” She said Allure is important for Jones County, because she can provide people in the community with services and medications that might not have access to otherwise. She said having her shop local to Gray means people don’t have to travel for the same services. “We’ve expanded the space for Allure, and we have added some new equipment. We have added the hydrafacial machine and microneedling.
We’re really excited about these new additions for our customers,” Lampkin said.
The business owner said Allure offers clients fillers, Botox injections, chemical peels, skin care products, a weight loss program, IV hydration, HydraFacial, skinpen microneedling, and melatonin injections. She said she plans to keep Allure around for a long time.
“Allure has a family atmosphere, and I love getting to know my clients, so I can have a great relationship with them,” the business owner said. “I enjoy being a part of Ambi Rae. I don’t plan on going anywhere, because we’re like a big family here.”
