Macon Water Authority Kids Fishing Derby
Macon Water Authority will host the 18th Annual Kids Fishing Derby Saturday, March 4, at Javors Lucas Lake, 150 Broach Lane off Upper River Road.
6:00 a.m. – On-site registration begins; 7:00 a.m. – Cast your lines; 10:00 a.m. – Weigh-in to determine biggest catches of the day. This event is free for all kids, ages 3 to 16. Immediately after the weigh-in, adults are allowed to fish for free as well for the rest of the day, until closing at 5:00 p.m. No fishing licenses are required. Prizes will be awarded for the overall best catch of the day, as well as for the top three catches in four age group categories – ages 3 to 5, ages 6 to 9, ages 10 to 13, and ages 14 to 16. Refreshments will also be provided.
Morton Johnson Scholarship
Students interested in applying for the Morton Johnson Scholarship for the 2023-2024 school year may pick up an application at the Jones County High School Counselor’s office or email: darscholarship@windstream.net. Velma McFadden Food Bank
Velma McFadden Missionary Food Bank will be at Greater Jordan Chapel, 1415 Highway 22 East, Haddock, on the following schedule each month: First Saturday, 10:00-11:30 a.m.
Third Thursday, 10:00-11:30 a.m.
Mobile Food Truck Distribution Fourth Wednesday, 11 a.m. until all is gone.
