Jones County Hunter Education Classes
The Georgia Department of Natural Resources will be conducting the required Hunter Safety classes soon in Jones County. Georgia Law requires the Hunter Safety Certification for anyone born on or after Jan. 1, 1961 in order to hunt on public lands. A classroom course taught by qualified instructors with hands-on training will be taught on Saturday, Aug. 20, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This class will be held at the Jones County Fire Station 5 in Wayside. Attendance is required to be certified. There is no cost for this class. All supplies are provided. Signing up for the classes on the DNR website is required and easy. Simply go to https:// georgiawildlife.com/hunting/ huntereducation and click on the ‘Find and sign up for a class’ under FREE COURSES. You will have to create an account if you do not have one. Bring something to drink. Lunch is not provided, but options will be available at a small cost.
Real Life sports camp
Real Life Church will host Mega Sports Camp July 25-29, and July 31 at 2491 Gray Highway. The event will be for ages 6-11 and will be 6:15 to 9:00 nightly and 11:00 a.m. Sunday. Admission iss free, but pre-registration is required to attend. register at www. rlmacon.com. Space is limited. The sports included will be basketball, soccer, cheer, volleyball, and flag football.
JCFD Station 1 Fundraiser
Station 1 Fire Department will have a live drawing Sept. 3, at 12 noon for a $500 Bass Pro Shop gift card. Tickets are $10 each. Proceeds go towards Station 1 to help with supplies, training, etc. To purchase a ticket, call Mr. Johnson at 478-955-1610 or available at Station 1 on Highway 49.
Ocmulgee Court Appointed Special Advocates
Ocmulgee Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) will hold its Fall Volunteer Training every Monday and Wednesday, beginning September 14 - October 9, from 1-4 pm at Lakeview Academy in Milledgeville. Trainees must attend all 9 sessions to complete the training.
CASA volunteers serve as the voice for children in foster care. They attend court hearings and advocate for the best interests of the child. For more information, please call 478-452-9170 or visit ocmulgeecasa.org.
Velma McFadden Food Bank
Velma McFadden Missionary Food Bank will be at Greater Jordan Chapel, 1415 Highway 22 East, Haddock, on the following schedule: 1st Saturday, 10-11:30 a.m. 3rd Thursday, 10-11:30 a.m. Mobile Food Truck Distribution 4th Wednesday, 11 a.m. until all is gone.

• Greater Faith Revelational Outreach Ministries, 1501 Highway 22 East, Haddock, distributes free nonperishable canned goods every Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This food bank ministry is free for those who are in need.
