M.A.G.S Life Changing Destiny recently held a CPR training class for children, so they could gain the skills to be able to save lives wherever they go.
Senesta Roberson, the business owner and CPR coach, said she was happy to help the children learn CPR. The business is located at 3014 Gray Hwy in suite 1 in Macon.
“We had 42 students show up for the 16 years and under CPR training class here at M.A.G.S CPR Life Changing Destiny. This was to get them acquainted with what to do in case of an emergency and CPR is required,” she said.
“They practiced hands on CPR with a rhythm machine involved, so they would know the rhythm.”
She said the students practiced on a CPR doll that had lights on it that would show them if they were administering CPR aid right or wrong. She said she wanted them to have the real scenario without having a real person involved.
“Cardiac arrest can happen at home at any time, and it takes an ambulance a bit to get there. A person is brain dead within 10 minutes without oxygen. The first few seconds are crucial, and everyone needs to know CPR. If you know CPR, you can save a life until the ambulance gets there,” Roberson said.
The CPR coach said the goal was for the children to learn CPR so they can help their family and friends if they ever must. She said every second counts. She said even though the students haven’t learned CPR in school or can’t get certified, she feels they still need to know the skill in case something were to happen.
Roberson said some of the children said they feel comfortable enough doing CPR to save their families and friends lives. She said all 42 students received a certificate after the class showing they completed the CPR class. She said even though they aren’t certified, they were still proud to receive the certificates and training.
“The kids learned a lot.
They were very excited about learning CPR. They were so enthusiastic about learning a new skill,” the CPR coach said. “I’ll probably do another class once school is out for the year, because it’s important for kids to learn CPR. My plan is to connect with as many people as I can.”
Robinson said anyone can come to her and learn CPR.
