Main Street Gray will be holding The Hometown Spring Festival in downtown Gray, Saturday April 15, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., with music entertainment going on until 9 p.m., to give Jones County a day filled with fun.
Main Street Gray Director Ashley Roberson said she’s excited about the festival and for the community to come out for it. She said she hopes guests enjoy the festival and all it has to offer.
“The Hometown Spring Festival will be April 15 here in downtown Gray. We will have vendors set up on West Clinton Street just like we had for our Hometown Christmas Market,” she said. “Right now we have 62 vendors, food trucks and we will also have a lot of music going on for guests to enjoy. We will be having a concert, and inflatables for the kids to play on.”
She said for the concert and musical entertainment, they plan to have a stage set up in the Butler Hall parking lot, as well as the inflatables. She said Music Medix and school performers will be taking the stage from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The director said Heath Peacock will be performing from 3 to 5 p.m., Lite N Tie will be performing from 5 to 7 p.m. and Ethan Payne will be performing from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Butler Hall parking lot. She said starting at 3 p.m. it will cost $5 to get into that concert area.
“We will be providing wristbands at 3 p.m. once people pay their $5 at the concert area, so they can come and go as they please. We are charging for the concert, so we can continue to be able to put on things here in downtown Gray,” the director said.
Roberson said open container will begin at 5 p.m. when the Hometown Spring Festival is over. She said Agave Azul, Bent Axle and Chevy’s Pizza will be set up in the concert area and people can purchase cups for beer and wine at that time.
“We previously had the Daylily Festival in June, then that transitioned over to the Turkey Festival. This year we decided to rebrand the Turkey Festival into the Hometown Spring Festival,” Roberson said. “These festivals always had a great turn out, and we wanted to continue to have this tradition going on here in Jones County.”
The director said people should come out to the Hometown Spring Festival, because it’s going to be a fun day in Gray. She said there will be a lot going on and something for the entire family to do. Parking for the event will be behind the businesses on West Clinton Street and on the other side of the Jones County Superior Court.
“The vendors will be selling items like jewelry, shirts, cups, wreaths, custom dog beds, wood burned art on cutting boards and things like that, and more. There’s a good variety. Food wise we will have Food Medics owned by Jane’s Asian Market, Sawmill, mini donuts, frozen lemonade, and Bent Axle and Chevy’s will be open,” she said.
Roberson said people should bring their own chairs for the concert since there won’t be any seating available. She said she’s excited for the concert to take place, and she feels people will enjoy it. She said she can’t wait to see everyone at the festival.
“I’m excited for the music and the food at the Hometown Spring Festival. It’s definitely going to be a day for everyone,” She said. “You can come in the morning and shop, eat, let the kids play and stay later for the concert if you want to. Come out and enjoy the day in downtown Gray.”
