From August 4-7, 2023, our kin boarded “The Independence of the Seas” for a memorable cruise to Nassau, Bahamas, and CocoCay. These three days were filled with heartfelt conversations, bursts of laughter, shared love, and an assortment of delightful cuisines and activities that catered to every age group. A daily tradition was our 5:30 p.m. gathering in the dining room, where stories from yesteryear and plans for the future echoed amidst the clinking of glasses.
As we docked, many seized the opportunity to explore the islands through shore excursions, immersing themselves in the vibrant cultures of the Bahamas. Sunday witnessed the Evans Family Worship Service, where our President-elect, Cheryl Tibbs, delivered a stirring message based on 1 Corinthians 13:4–7, titled “Love: The Tie that Binds the Family.” Cheryl also unveiled her vision as the newly elected president of the Monroe and Martha Evans Family Executive Board.
The former president, Carol Pounds, emotionally remarked, “Of all institutions, the family stands highest.” This sentiment was vividly encapsulated in the photographs taken during the reunion, showcasing our radiant bond. As has become tradition, Carol concluded the reunion by stating, “It is history, another reunion!” –Contributed
