“Where is the promise of his coming?“ (2 Pet 3:4) People mock the second coming of Jesus. They’ve been mocking it since Peter’s day. Because He hasn’t come back yet, people believe Jesus isn’t coming back. But He will return. He said He would, and Jesus has done everything He said He would do. He told the crowd one day, “Destroy this temple (His body), and in three days I will raise it up.” (Jn 2:19). They did and He did. And He will return just like He said.
A 1,000 years is like a day to the Lord (2 Pet 3:8). So Jesus has only been gone 2 days, hardly enough time to get settled on His throne.
The harvest is not complete. Souls are still being saved, and Jesus delaying His return, is opportunity for people to be saved. He wants all to come to repentance.
But when the last soul is saved, the Father will tell His Son, Go get your bride.
Jesus will return.
Nobody knows when; nobody ever will. But we can know the times, and the time is near. Are you ready for His return? And should you die before He returns, are you ready to face Him then? Be saved “for you know not what hour your Lord does come” (Mt 24:42) or what hour you will die.
Happy 4th of July!
