Real Life

The crucible is for silver, and the furnace is for gold, and the LORD tests hearts.

(Prov 17:3). Everybody gets tested. To graduate from school, you’re tested.

To become a doctor your medical knowledge is tested. To obtain a driver’s license your driving skills are tested. To be promoted at a job, you may be tested. So it is in the spiritual realm. Our faith gets tested by God. Adam and Eve were tested in the garden and they failed miserably. Jesus was tested in the wilderness and He passed with flying colors. Abraham was tested and passed. Peter was tested and failed but when later retested, he passed.

And when teachers give a test, they remain silent during the testing.

You may be undergoing a test now and you wonder where is God? He’s there, but silent. When the saints of the Bible were tested, God didn’t interfere. He remained quiet while they underwent their exam-because the Teacher is silent during the testing.

The testing isn’t for God’s sake, but for ours.

He already knows how we will do. The test reveals to us how we stand in our faith. The test is to help us grow in grace. “For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow.”James 1:3.

When your test from God comes, remember what you have learned from His textbook--the Bible. Hide His word in your heart so that you will pass the exam just as Jesus did.
