The ribbon cutting for the new office of Alex C. Smith, Attorney at Law, sponsored by the Gray/Jones County Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Gray, was held Aug. 28. The office is located at 102 E. Clinton Street, Suite 5. Smith is from Jones County and focuses on real estate.

The dedicated volunteers with the Jones County Friends of the Library present a check for $5,000 to the Jones County Library at the Aug. 6 meeting of the board of trustees. The Friends of the Library holds books sales every second Saturday at 273 Railroad St., next to the Jones County pre-K campus. 

Annual Touch-a-Truck planned next Saturday

The Pilot Club of Jones County would like to extend an invitation to the annual Touch-a-Truck event Sept. 20 on grounds of the Jones County Sheriff’s Department. This is the eighth year for Toucha- Truck, and each year it has been bigger and better. This is an event for all ages.

The Jones County School System will host “Leveling Up Literacy Together,” a literacy- focused event for kindergarten through fifth-grade students, highlighting the latest English Language Arts standards, curriculum updates, and resources designed to support the academic success of every child.

Lowe feels ‘blessed’ with his position in life

Adam Lowe is right where he wanted to be when he was growing up — in Jones County — and he has no plans to change that.“I’m very blessed to have grown up here, lived here my whole life, and been able to come to work every day where I grew up,” Gray’s police chief said last week.

Terri Wiggins presented a program entitled Growing and Cooking with Herbs at the Aug. 5 meeting of the Gray Garden Club. She displayed pots of herbs and discussed drying herbs in a hydrator. She then served homemade bruschetta to the members.
